Didnt get the big deal about it at the time and still don't. At the time Man Utd didn't give a shit about the league cup and played a weakened team as well. The fact that cole and Spector smashed them up is further proof that the obviously didn't give a fuck.
But carry on wanking into your beanie hats

Up there with my favourite matches ever.
I think our midfield that day was Spector, Barrera, Kovac and Boa Morte. I genuinely questioned before kick off if that was the worst midfield we'd ever put out for a match.

It's also 28 years ago today we did Liverpool 4-1.
Of course we lost the semi final and got relegated both years...

I thought Carlton's steamy head and overchuffed came from the Birmingham Semi first leg?
This one was the game where he got his only brace.
He probably is a better option than Zaza right now and he's knocking about the training camp.
Fancy some Deja Vu tonight Carlton son?!

Was buzzing. I had halfers that day, started in the railway Liv St - was steaming before the game.
Remember MPI grabbing me when the lino gave an early offside, wasn't impressed. Scored very soon after that.

I remember having a half day & meeting me mate who worked in I-Cap... got cliented in a few boozers around L'pool Street and both had a plater of meats in tayabs... glad I got up early as me other mate had to turn back half way as the roads were chockablock... love games in the snow

yes, spector had one called back for offside (rightly so). he would have had a hat trick had it counted. Fergie started that hobo from portugal up top. don't think he ever played for them again. struggling to remember his name now.

Obinna had a shot at 0-0 that went in off Spector who was offside.
Obinna set up all four goals that night.
